Alyssa Milano, renowned actress and activist, is standing up against online trolls targeting her 12-year-old son, Milo, on Instagram. The backlash follows Milano’s request for financial support to cover expenses for her son’s Little League trip to Cooperstown, New York. Despite the GoFundMe campaign surpassing its $10,000 goal, Milano has faced considerable criticism.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Milano shared screenshots of derogatory comments left by random users on her son’s posts. Last month, the actress organized the GoFundMe, sparking controversy and prompting her to address media inquiries about her financial contributions. Milano clarified that she had already covered team uniforms, and coaches’ expenses, and supported kids unable to afford monthly dues.
However, the intensity of the backlash escalated, leading Milano to share the online trolls’ comments on her son’s Instagram. One comment questioned her need for public donations, alleging she had sufficient funds to contribute $19,000 herself. In response, Milo urged the troll to leave his page, emphasizing his young age.
In her caption, Milano defended the GoFundMe, stating it’s a common practice for parents to raise funds for their children’s sports teams. She highlighted the financial constraints preventing her from covering all expenses personally and appealed for respect, urging critics to refrain from targeting her son.
Milano emphasized, “Regardless of how you feel about me, going to my hardworking 12-year-old son’s Instagram page and leaving these kinds of messages is so horrid. Leave the kids alone. Let them play baseball. If you are against donating—don’t donate. We appreciate it if you’d like to donate to help the team’s families.”
Despite the criticism, Milano has received support from followers who commend her for instilling life skills, hard work, and responsibility in her children. Supporters emphasized Milano’s challenges, stating that she would be criticized regardless of her actions.
