Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is off to a great start at the domestic box office. Pathaan’s first day figures are among the top openers of all time as War (2019) had collected 50 crore nett and 2022’s KGF 2 (Hindi) had done a business of 52 crore nett. As per early estimates, Pathaan’s Hindi version has recorded a phenomenal 50-51 crore nett collection on day one at the domestic box office. Pathaan was released on Wednesday, a day before Republic Day 2023, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand, and backed up Yash Raj Films.

As per a report by Box Office India, “Pathaan has recorded a phenomenal opening day at the box office as it takes a 50-51 crore nett collection in its Hindi version, as per early estimates.” The report added that the action film, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has smashed non-holiday records by leaps and bounds as Bahubali – The Conclusion (Hindi) was the biggest non-holiday opener before Pathaan. The 2017 period film is directed by SS Rajamouli.

On Wednesday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share Pathaan’s estimated first day collections at national chains. According to him, the film did a business of 25.05 crore till Wednesday evening, which was better than what Hrithik Roshan’s War ( 19.67 crore) made on its first day at multiplex chains. He tweeted, “Pathaan at national chains… day 1… update: 8.15 pm. PVR: 11.40 crore, INOX: 8.75 crore, Cinepolis 4.90 crore. Total: 25.05 crore. SUPERB. Note: Better than War [ 19.67 crore], TOH, Thugs of Hindostan [ 18 crore] and KGF [ 22.15 crore] – (their) entire day numbers at multiplex chains.”

Earlier, Adarsh had told PTI that Pathaan will revive Bollywood and will mark the beginning of a fantastic 2023 for the film industry. He had said before Pathaan’s release, “The film is going to take a historic start at the box office with opening day collections of 45-50 crore. The box office revival will begin with Pathaan, especially looking at its advance booking, which is very rare. It is a great start to 2023 despite being a working day.”

On Thursday, industry tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted about the film’s worldwide box office collection on day one. He said, “Pathaan takes a whopping 100 crore plus gross opening at the worldwide box office. No.1 debut in UAE and Singapore.” In another tweet, he said, “Pathaan has crossed $1 million in the US by Wednesday afternoon.”

Even before the release of the film, Pathaan had smashed records with its incredible advance bookings. The advance bookings for Pathaan had opened on January 20. Due to growing demands, theatre owners in many parts of India had decided to have early morning screenings of the film. Amid the Pathaan craze, there were also reports that the film’s morning shows had been cancelled as protests emerge outside theatres in Indore on Wednesday.

While many have been calling the success of Pathaan, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Brahmastra an answer to the negativity, Alia said as artists, they don’t have so much “aggression”. Talking about responding to negativity and haters, Alia said, “I don’t think we have so much aggression in us like that. We are very grateful to be working and living our dream on a day-to-day basis. And we believe that we belong to the audience and the audience can say whatever they want about us. As long as we are entertaining them we will do our very best.”

Speaking about Pathaan she also said, “We feel very very happy as an industry that a film like Pathaan is not just a blockbuster but possibly the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema. I think everybody should definitely clap for that once. We feel grateful for moments like this and pray that yahi hota rahe (this should continue happening).”

When a reporter said that Pathaan broke Brahmastra’s record, Alia added, “Every film should break every film’s record. I am very happy with that.” Alia’s last release Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, was helmed by Ayan Mukerji. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. The film gathered positive responses from the audience and collected over 425 crore gross worldwide at the box office.

Varun said one must not pay heed to boycott trends as the success of Pathaan is a testament that the audience is only looking for pure entertainment. He said, “I don’t want to talk about it. Why should we give so much importance to it? If people are liking it (Pathaan), then be happy. We should not discuss much about it. The collections are speaking about the reach of Indian cinema, of Hindi cinema. And when you have some of the biggest stars of this country in Pathaan, be it Shah Rukh sir, Salman bhai, Deepika Padukone and John, you are giving the audience what they want and that’s entertainment.”

Pathaan, a Yash Raj Films project, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana among others. The spy thriller, which had faced boycott calls over the song Besharam Rang prior to its release on January 25, has been a humongous success at the box office, raising 591 crore gross worldwide in six days.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan marks Shah Rukh’s first big-screen release as a lead in over four years. The movie is the fourth title in producer Aditya Chopra’s spy universe, following Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War, featuring Hrithik Roshan (2019).

Newlyweds Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul had a blast at their wedding after party and a new video has surfaced. The couple tied the knot on January 23 at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala house. In the new video, the couple is seen planting sweet kisses on each other’s cheeks. Also read: Athiya Shetty, KL Rahul spotted on dinner date for first time after wedding

The video clip consists of several photos featuring Athiya and Rahul at a photo booth. The two posed with different expressions and were seen goofing around with each other.

In one of them, Rahul placed an adorable kiss on Athiya’s cheeks. She also did the same in another one. While Athiya wore a maroon traditional dress in the photos, Rahul sported a black sequined outfit. The actor also sported a minimal mangalsutra.

The video has been shared by the celebrity wedding planner, Shaadi Squad who arranged Athiya and Rahul’s D-day. Sharing the video, their caption read, “One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila Floooor!! Best after party with the best peeps dancing the night away on the best beats.”

Later, KL Rahul too shared the video but ditched the caption. Reacting to it, Athiya’s best friend Anushka Ranjan wrote in the comment section, “Loooove.” “Kisi ki Nazar na lge aap dono ko (May God protect you from evil),” added a fan. “You both are always my favourite,” another one mentioned.

KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty got married last week after dating for several years. Their wedding ceremony was an intimate affair, with less than 100 guests, including family members and close friends. For the pre-wedding festivities, the house was decorated with white flowers. It changed to a marigold theme for the haldi ceremony.

The couple made their first public appearance as husband and wife on Monday, days after they had posed for the paparazzi on their wedding day. Suniel told the media the couple’s wedding reception will be held after the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, most likely in Mumbai.

Talking about his son-in-law, Suniel said in a post, “Despite having the adulation of the nation, Rahul remains humble. He’s well mannered, intelligent, & extremely composed. Mana & Rahul are a riot together! Most importantly, like all athletes, he’s seen ups & downs – which is something that will help him long after he’s done with cricket. Athiya is blessed to have found such a loving family, because his parents are really just the nicest people.” Athiya was last seen in Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019), co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
